Vice President of Operations and Board Governance
Brief info
Emily Morgese is Vice President of Operations and Board Governance at the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU). In that role she manages CICU’s day-to-day operations including overseeing communications and government affairs. She also is the liaison to the Board of Trustees.
Prior to joining CICU, Emily worked at the GE Global Research Center in Niskayuna, NY in communications roles specializing in digital media, internal communications, and event management. She worked on events related to GE’s sponsorship of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the grand opening of a new Global Research Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and many technical conferences and symposia. She also previously worked for the external communications team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
Emily began her career working at newspapers. After spending two years at a small weekly newspaper in Providence, Rhode Island, she was hired as a government and crime reporter at The Saratogian in Saratoga Springs, NY. She went on to serve for several years as The Saratogian’s Online Editor managing the newspaper’s website, social media accounts, and video production as well as writing and editing for the daily print edition.
Emily graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She was raised in New York’s Capital Region and currently lives in Ballston Spa.
